The Storyteller
02:39
|
|||
Deep inside, the embers glow
Ways for today come and
Say they've gone around a place
And now they know for sure
Reaping by the side
Work goes on a steady pace
While making better work
Come today, come yesterday
How does that story go
When evening comes and wind blows cold
How does evening stay
Right by the fireplace
When everyone is gathered there
By that feeling in the air
Listening to the story grow
Each step is placed within the
Flow that takes me to the place
And pauses make me go
Back to the story room
Like different pauses in a tune
Each section placed so well
Wrapped in the storyteller's spell
How does that story go
When days are done and they go home
How do the people stay
Wrapped in the story's pace
How can we get back there
Back to that feeling in the air

The Walls Would Crumble
03:17
|
|||
My eyes well up when I look to see
I remember when the others would wait for me
And whatever I'd say would be heard
With utmost interest in each word
So I could say whatever I'd try
And then somehow, somewhere deep inside
From a well would come through a door
I'd say what I'd been too scared before
The walls around would start to crumble
As emotions pour out in a tumble
All that was locked away within
And the healing would begin
I'd sit there in dim rooms among friends
With beautiful scenes around, I'd comprehend
An understanding too deep to explain
But easy to get and share
With whoever cared to understand
I'd sit there relating song after story
Of pain and of waiting, of fame and of glory
Gathering up a tapestry of emotion
While building up the momentum
As we soar far above the ground
And far beyond the time of those around
I would cry for them and cry for us
For not living constantly thus
The walls around...

Whirls of Blending Minds
03:40
|
|||
The bright lights burn round the bend
And I feel alright at last
The anxious wait has turned to calm
As the answering has been cast
The moment I hold the answer in my hand
All fears and doubts dissolve
With a steady step I rise up to
My lab and start to solve
With a rush from the right
And a shove from the left
I'm bounced around and mixed
A voice in doubt
Another removes
And everything else is fixed
I sit in whirls
Of blending minds
And keep my answers short
And pressing in
The needed calm
Returns me to the source
The wheels that grind around the bend
Make my heart to start
And as I meet among with friends
There's a way to take a part
The gathered group lifts me up
As words are brought to send
I see the ways we have to go
And start to walk to the end
With a place to start
And a way to take
I follow down the winding road
In signs I see
The way for me
To carry on my load
With days away
And nights to seek
Ways through baffling course
And drawing in
The needed calm
Returns me to the source

What brings people together when we naturally repel
Is it a magic that brings us to show our inner selves
In the eyes of our beholders, do we stand and connect
Does the mind possess enough power to express
How can we make our thoughts agree, our hearts to stay
At frequencies tuned, our feelings the same
How can we release our perceptions' boundness
To reveal beyond our worlds the others around us
After we go and roll away the days
We'll have just ourselves and our complicated ways
Everything else will take what they require
Rolling down mountains as we ascend higher
The complication will arise and surround
Till all that's heard is just one sound
A simple sound, a true sound, projecting
Whose waves will encompass outwards, connecting
Words, when arranged, are the organized keys
The way we explain our own realities
Who are we when we stand united in the game
We means connected, we means the same
After we go...
I stand on the inside of my mind
Looking out with wonderment in my eyes
Every day I awake to a newness unknown
And every night, my eyes close
After we go...

When the world gives you a chance
Lets you stand up and dance
And you feel all around
Every eye gives you a glance
These are the years that you know will grow you old
These are the tears that you never knew to hold
Will you walk around and show me what's to do
Everything's awakening with every door I'm through
Here is the reason that you stood up and shout
Here is the only way for you to climb about
When you see the answers pouring from the walls
Everyone's disaster turned into the calls
Can you hear me
Can you see me
Here is all I've tried to say
Everything in everyway
Can you show me
Can you go for me
Where is that answer hidden in the words
Don't tell me it's hiding among the song of birds
When the world lets you in
Shows you where you're to begin
And your head you hold up high
As you walk and start to win
There is the answer you stumbled through to show
There is the dancer of the next tomorrow
Listening to waterfalls to get yourself in tune
Marking on a paper what you want to be so soon
These are the places that you know will always be
These are the faces that you never knew to see
Did you bring your lucky star with you across the ages
Did you set it down upon the blank and waiting pages
Can you follow
Years of sorrow
Into a better way
Everything in everyway
Can you wake up
Can't you shake up
All the answers hidden in the words
I know, I know, it's hiding among the song of birds

The Story's Feeling
03:43
|
|||
Please don't turn away
Please just run along
I've come to set you free
I've come to sing your song
Through the sky
I watch the clouds roll
It reminds me of a story you once told me
But for the life of me
I can't remember at all
Except the subtle feeling that it brought me
To a place of wonder
Where there's never any boredom
Where everything's the way it's supposed to be
When you'd run to the top
You'd stop to look around
You'd see me catching up
But I'm still on the ground
Jumping up at dawns
Running to the parlor
A singing crowd laughs
A slight of hand farther
Through the sky...
I found my way back
Though I left back a find
I tried to play back
But pressed down rewind
The tape had unreeled
And rolled everywhere
I chased down the end
And ended back here
Through the sky...

Everyday Another Song
01:35
|
|||
Riding through the woods
Handlebars for each one
Everyday another song
Filters in and carries on
Our painted scenes are drawing round
Everything and every sound
Like a choo-train in the sky
Flying by and wondering why
Ice cream cones are given out
To every arm that reaches
Everyday another song
Tries to come and teach us
Our story of our wandering
Every sight and everything
Like a painting in the store
Gathering in and waiting for
Home from school today
Run outside and play
Everyday another song
Flutters in to show the way
Our picture of the scene
Our homes and everything
Like a toy dropped in the sand
We're always looking for a hand

The path to the candy store is filled with little holes
You can drop pebbles in and wait in the cold
It was told that a dragon would come forth then
It would take you away and always defend
A mighty castle with king and queen
The most wondrous sight you've ever seen
In a beautiful garden, it would set you down
It would serve you a feast and not let you frown
With pickles and pumpkins and blueberry pie
Eat till you swell up and float to the sky
And draw your eye far and wide today
And tell me what you think will end this way
Every single day grander than the last
For yesterday's work is all in the past
And the jazz-playing band will go on with the score
And somewhere on a bridge, in the moonlight galore,
Dreams will be broken and myths ripped apart
And the drizzling rain will be just the start
With a cry and a run, years will be flung
And a clattering of feet in a way will be sprung
In the arms of each other, everyone will weep
And the happiness song will be theirs to keep
And every single tear will be just as sweet
As we all sing and dance aloud in the street

Wave Goes Out
01:24
|
|||
A single wave goes out
And comes the way it went
Traveling through space
Received as it was sent
Traveling down a wire
A message miles long
Played out on the radio
And captured in a song
Live on different stations
Watch them move along
Taking all emotion
And put into a song
Another wave goes out
And messages are crossed
Both go down the line
And not a drop is lost
Traveling down a wire...

The Programmer's Heart
03:55
|
|||
He sits by his computer screen and types line by line
His surroundings perfectly tuned to fit in with his mind
He blends in with them into one work of art
As he types into forever the litany of his heart
He writes as memories flash across his screen
He cries at lost chance and for beautiful strength seen
Of those who struggled through the darkness of night
To tend to him like a little light
He smiles at happy memories, of feelings they evoke
Remembering some little joke
He sighs at the life he once had all around
He wonders if he has it now as then
He wonders if he could get it again
He types on and on into a vortex of oceans
As his mind melts beneath the tide of his emotions
Sweeping him into an eternity and universal music
In absolute harmony with everything in it
But he sees none of this as he sits there still
All he sees is the computer's window sill
And the words he types across his mind
One letter at a time

The Wind of My Sails
04:38
|
|||
I was in the midst of a massive upheaval
Tearing out the notes by their roots
I brought my spade and my shovel
Digging down, searching for truth
Then suddenly, the lunch whistle blew
My ax froze solid in the air
Everyone went home and left back their tools
And no one seemed to care
I turned around to see what's the holdup
I glanced behind to find a rhyme
A man stood there with a smile on his lips
And a look in his eyes a drop too wide
And he said,
"Must you play such loud music this early?
The playing is nice but maybe you could dim it?
The hotel guests prefer something lighter"
I thought that they got it but I guess they didn't
I stood there still like a frozen statue
Fingers poised over the keys
My mouth agape mid-syllable
And my heart dropped to my knees
The earth opened up a mighty chasm
And into the plummet the piano reeled
I said nothing but my eyes
Took on a fire of steel
"Must you play..."
I tried to squeeze passion into those tiny notes
Cramming the life force into easy streams
Only musicians could hear the sorrow
Crushed into that melody
Pained F# minors and C# minors
Crashing up and down
Crying into each other
F# minors and C# minors
Crying into each other
"Must you play..."
The depths widened as I searched above
Looking into the cracks in the walls
With hopeful eyes but a shattered heart
Trying to find a face in it all
Pained F# minors...
Pained F# minors...

The Wall's Secret
10:00
|
|||
Standing in the front is a man who stands alone
His lips are never moving but his eyes never stop
He's looking for an answer hidden in the wall
Just beyond his grasp, the wall retains its lock
I asked him what he's doing there
I asked him what's his aim
I asked him for an answer
I asked him to explain
Closing his eyes and drawing his breath
He says there was a time that he used to know rest
He says he was like me, just searching for the truth
He says he went to find it and to return with some proof
But now he says the answer is hidden in the wall
He asks of me to find it and to tell him what's its call
He tells me that the question that I think I have to ask
Is going to propel me down a road I'll have to grasp
He tells me there's an answer to the question that I fail
But I must bear the outcome of whatever it entails
Wall! Tell me your secrets!
What can you tell me that I don't already know?
Wall! Give me an answer!
To find my way tell me which way to go
"If you really want to know
Then all you have to do is go
Listen well to what I have to say
Follow the path before you
And signs pointing true
And you will find the answer some day"
I opened the door to find the way
I ventured outside into the day
I followed the road to just begin
I decided this riddle I would win
I saw a mountain standing there
I saw a river cry
I saw a city dancing
And I saw a wall sigh
Sitting in the parlor is a man who tells a story
While outside the window a delivery is made
The man backs up the load and puts away the lorry
Just as the story's last word is laid
I felt the pieces put in place
Like they were teaching me
Just then, a light lit up the space
As my thoughts made them be
Closing my eyes and listening to the sound
I heard a wind whisper that I had a clue found
I opened up my eyes and I saw the bridge across
I sensed this was the meaning of the answer I had lost
I crossed into the tunnel that appeared around me
And I heard the voices past as they began to speak
The pictures on the wall began to really explain
Just what I was doing there and why I must remain
I turned around just then as I realized the trap
The wall just turned around and it began to laugh
The sounds fade away as I become the wall
I try to tell my secret but they cannot hear my call
Wall! Take back your secrets!
Why didn't you tell me what I didn't know?
Wall! Take back your answers!
I don't want them anymore
"If you really want to go
And forget what you now know
Then close your eyes and wake up from this dream
The answers that you heard
Remember every word
And you'll look back as though this only seemed"
I opened my eyes and I looked around
It seems to be that the way I have found
I followed the road that called to me
And the dream has become just a memory
I heard a mountain lower its head
I heard a river lie down to bed
I heard a city close its eyes
And I heard a wall realize
Wall, wall, wake up

Trapped
01:41
|

I tried to compose a song for you
When you walked out with your heart in your hand
But when the wind blew back the shades
You faded away like a pillar of sand
I felt the sun once on a hill
And knew a feeling of being young
But then a tear fell from my eye
As I tried to see beyond
I heard a story of a man
Who was brave and caught a beast
But then the story faded away
When I came home and had a feast
I turned to see beyond the glass
I followed a hollow through the wall
But when I stood and turned around
My face was fixed in a desperate call
I found myself in an ancient song
I tried to catch the words I dreamt
That sprang out free when I was young
Before I found out of the end

Bluebird
02:52
|
|||
Bluebird in the sky
Tell me what went wrong
Did your wings turn back on you
You rode through open skies
Intent on getting home
But now you find that skies aren't so blue
Uh-uh-oh
You were taken for a ride
Uh-uh-oh
In open blue, blue skies
My birdy went on vacation
My birdy was having a celebration
We're gonna go riding
Right into the sunset
We're gonna go flying
Right through the sky
Won't take a look back
Won't see the sunrise
We're going on
We're going on the run
We're growing strong and on
And on
Bluebird on the ground
Your wings have let you down
And your friends abandoned you
The sun is grey and gone
But you will carry on
Remember when skies were so blue
Uh-uh-oh
You're waiting for a ride
Uh-uh-oh
In open blue, blue skies
My birdy wants a vacation
My birdy would like a celebration
We're gonna go riding...

I Wish I Knew
02:29
|
|||
I feel so up high as I sit beneath the shade I call my own
I wish upon a lonely road to walk along and feel the song
I wish I knew the words for you, I wish I had a tune
Just the single thing that would make everything right for you
Sometimes, you want to hide
Sometimes, you want to cry
It's those times like these that we need
Just a little of
Just some of I wish I knew
But what I can tell you is that
All this does for me is make me see
And what I saw is not at all
What I think should be
So just for me
Just a little of
Just some of
I wish I knew
Show me the drawing that you drew of the world you once knew
Show me the song you wrote about the only feeling you think is true
And later, after it's said and done, turn the sign goodbye
Close the door in front of me, the last tear has been cried
Sometimes, you want to hide...
But I don't and all I know
Is that for no reason at all
It controls my very thoughts
And I don't know what it is at all but please
Do it for me

Keep Walking
02:13
|
|||
Well, all my friends have gone away
They say I did the walking
What can I say
I did the walking
They used to walk beside me
They turned to something beside me
They turned away
But I keep walking on
They say I did the walking
And now they say I'm gone
But don't you realize
All this time I'm still by
The places I used to take
And they're still mine
Don't you realize
All this time I'm still by your side
If you can't see me
It's cuz I've stopped speaking now
But if you listen right
And hear a weeping sound
You'll see on the dripping side
My words still leaking out
Every time, every time, every time
You try to draw me in
I've learned to deal you a perfect line
If you can't understand
It's not because I'm not trying
It's just you think I'm lying
Now nothing can change
Not you nor I
But you keep on trying
And I'll keep walking
I can't help you decide
It's not that I'm not on your side
It's just when you try to draw me in
I've learned to deal you a perfect line
Now you can't decide
Well, keep walking
Keep walking
Well, keep walking
Keep walking

I close my eyes and draw a sigh
It grabs my heart and out it goes
On the rivers and through tunnels
Down a hall and in the holes
In the garden, lying there
A valid pool of thoughts to see
A gathered design of what's likely
Laid out for a wanderer like me
And so I approach and peer carefully
Over the stone and into the sea
The image is dark, too dark
Too dark to see clearly
My reflection wavers up high
With the clouds against a fine blue sky
Perhaps I can make out, make out my eyes
Just two lonely, lonely travelers
Just two lonely travelers crying
Yet in a fiery blaze blasts from the mirror a thought
A future for oneself, despite the cost
A surety of mission, of life, of chance
To quell this battle, to become the best
And to silently drift on a summer's day
As station for the little ones who, though they may
Who though they run and though they hide
They'll come to you with tears on their eyes
And a quiver of their lip will send a tear to start
To fall on the ground where it'll sear your heart
And they'll make their desperate request of you
And you already know their wish will come true
But you must let them say it how they meant it to be
Finished, polished, pure, and free

Harmony
01:50
|
|||
I have to ask once again
Would you lead me farther now
All the worlds you gave to me
And now I want another sound
Drown me in your knowledge
It's safe and tells a story
You made me understand me
Your art is yours to glory
If you be just an artist
And I your creation
Learning to respond to
Your craft and designation
Everyone is different
And no one ever knows
What each other's feeling
And that's just how it goes
But there is a way
By which we can break through
We give to one another
I thereby become you
And when I see you standing
As me and as a friend
Then we'll be an artist
Together once again

The Torch
08:32
|
|||
Besides the noise and the watching eyes
An inner tremor I can't disguise
A space so large the slightest crack
Will bring the world in coming back
When the wheels have been spun
And they've finished up their run
As I shake off the dust
I'm the only one
To come and plead
My case before these
As I throw out my heart
And I beg on my knees
Yet I know that you all give me my chance
You've cleared out the floor and shown me to dance
You raise me up high and my heart you return
You focus the lights and all eyes to me turn
What can I do as you all fall in step?
I tap into my heart and the ink-flow I let
The ages and pages flow down to my hands
The work is created, the memoir stands
Though the crack opened wide and the whole world fell in
The gears unaffected and the great wheels still spin
Outside I walk with hurried step
To find a place no one has kept
The line I drive divides the world
The raging words are all I heard
On the right I see the wall
On the left is the great fall
On the road and in the sky
I can hear the call
That calls to me
For all eternity
As the wave crashes down
As I look, I can hardly see
I race up the hill to see what I'll find
I call to a friend that he start to climb
We stand at the edge and we give a look
We recall the scene to put into the book
We run down the slope to trees in the valley
The scene we imagined down some darkened alley
The river of water gives life to the place
The size of the time and speed of the space
We behold all of this in a crystal ball
We hold in our hand the dream of it all
Inside that moment once in time
When the edge was reached of that fateful line
They gave each other one more glance
And knew that now there's no more chance
As the world falls to the ground
They take one step and turn around
Then they throw the bag to me
With everything they found
Across the sea
And all memory
And they've brought back my heart
And at last, I have the key
I open the bag and discover the truth
I find all of the years that I kept as a youth
The rivers of the world flow unto me
Bringing the treasures I hoped I would keep
I look all arund with a tear in my eye
Happy at last with the years I would find
With arms that can reach out and take anything
With a look and a nod, they go and they bring
Though the war is over and the whole world fell asleep
I stand and hold the torch so high with feelings oh so deep

Time Will Tell
02:42
|
|||
Can I just look back upon the day
Will the light make me feel around or away
Can't I smile in my heart when I hear
When the light comes around, takes away my fear
My eyes behold just one need
Time will tell what we will see
Can't we say we'll find a way
Look back on what we never dream
To find a way for me to be
Time will tell the dream to me
Can't we stay within the day
That tells the dream what we now see
If I look and hear a smile way back
Will I think in my heart of a need or lack
If I saw a dream, will one day I know
Will I see the light path upon which way I go
My eyes behold...
